1. An Interactive Traction Motors Design and Selection Software
Sammanfattning : Use of electric motors in vehicle traction, in fact, predates the internal combustion engines (ICEs). Electric vehicles powered by dc motors were known as far back as 1890. Compared with vehicles powered by ICEs, the main drawback of the early electric vehicles was, and still is, their limited range and long recharging time. LÄS MER
2. Integrated In-Wheel Motors for Low Power Traction Application
Sammanfattning : This thesis is primarily concerned with the practical limits, imposed by magnetic saturation and thermal considerations, of the force density in low-speed permanent-magnet electric machines. The practical force density values obtainable in integral- and fractional-slot machines are determined. LÄS MER
3. Modelling and simulation of electromagnetic audible noise generated by traction motors
Sammanfattning : An annoying tonal noise is produced by modern electrical trains duringacceleration and deceleration. This noise is caused by electromagneticforces generating structural vibrations, especially from the traction motors. LÄS MER
4. On Gate Drivers for MOS-Controlled Power Devices and dv-dt Filters for Train Traction Converters
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, low-loss gate-drive solutions and a proposed dv/dt-filter have been investigated with focus on train traction converters with dv/dt constraints.By using the silicon carbide (SiC) junction field-effect transistor (JFET), the switching losses can be significantly reduced compared to the commonly used insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), but complex gate-driver solutions are required for high utilization in terms of loss reduction. 5. Harmonic Mitigation in Traction Drives
Sammanfattning : In railway traffic the low friction between wheel and rail causes long braking distances, normally much longer than the sight distance of the driver, i.e. if the driver starts the braking when a problem on the track is discovered, it might be too late to brake the train. Therefore, safe railway traffic can not only rely on the driver. LÄS MER
