  2. 2. Affective touch throughout life: from cortical processing in infancy to touch perception in adulthood

    Författare :Emma H. Jönsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affective touch; Touch perception; Cortical activation; C-tactile afferents;

    Sammanfattning : Affective, interpersonal touch is important for forming and maintaining social bonds. In the hairy skin of humans there is a specific type of nerve fibers called C-tactile (CT) afferents which are optimally activated by a light stroking of the skin, like a caress. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Perception of touch : Developmental and personality factors in touch avoidance

    Författare :Caroline Johansson; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Touch avoidance; Touch Avoidance Questionnaire; Attachment theory; Rejection sensitivity; Communication apprehension; Qualitative content analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The studies in this doctoral thesis investigated the concept of touch avoidance. Touch avoidance indicates a person’s negative affect toward physical contact/touch. In study 1 the aim was to develop a questionnaire that measures the level of touch avoidance. The results showed that touch avoidance can be measured along five different dimensions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sense of Touch in Robots

    Författare :Magnus Johnsson; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; touch perception; neural network; robot hand; brain model; cognitive model; robot model; tensor network; associative self-organizing map; SOM; proprioception;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a number of robot touch perception systems. All these systems are self-organizing and model different aspects of human touch perception. The thesis starts out with introductions to the anatomy and the physiology of the human hand. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A pathway for pleasant touch: linking peripheral receptors to central processing and hedonic experience

    Författare :Line Sofie Löken; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :pleasant; touch; microneurography; human; CT afferent; unmyelinated;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the mechanisms underpinning pleasant touch, describes a pathway from peripheral nerve endings in the skin to the insular cortex, and relates these findings to the subjective hedonic experience of touch. In Paper I, the relationship between primary afferent encoding and perception of pleasantness was investigated by combining microneurography recordings from human mechanoreceptors with psychophysical measurements during soft brush stroking at 6 different velocities between 0.
