1. Geometric and Topological Phases with Applications to Quantum Computation
Sammanfattning : Quantum phenomena related to geometric and topological phases are investigated. The first results presented are theoretical extensions of these phases and related effects. Also experimental proposals to measure some of the described effects are outlined. LÄS MER
2. Entanglement and Quantum Computation from a Geometric and Topological Perspective
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate geometric and topological structures in the context of entanglement and quantum computation.A parallel transport condition is introduced in the context of Franson interferometry based on the maximization of two-particle coincidence intensity. LÄS MER
3. Solvable Topological Boundaries
Sammanfattning : The hallmark of topological phases of matter is the presence of robust boundary states. In this dissertation, a formalism is developed with which analytical solutions for these states can be straightforwardly obtained by making use of destructive interference, which is naturally present in a large family of lattice models. 4. Topological Phases of Non-Hermitian physics
Sammanfattning : Non-Hermitian physics has introduced phenomena like the skin effect and exceptional points, challenging traditional views of topological phases. This thesis contrasts two classification frameworks for non-Hermitian systems. LÄS MER
5. Topological Phase Transitions in Magnetic Nanostructures of Dirac Materials
Sammanfattning : Over the past two decades, the discovery of topological Dirac materials, such as topological insulators and semimetals, has defined a new paradigm in condensed matter physics and established new platforms for realizing spin electronic devices and quantum computing. The novel quantum properties of these materials, which are mainly due to the presence of strong spin-orbit coupling, are invariant under topological transformations, making them more resilient to structural disorder, electromagnetic and thermal fluctuations in comparison to the conventional silicon-based materials.
