1. Capturing Air Pollutants : Photochemical Adsorption and Degradation of SO2, NO2 and CO2 on Titanium Dioxide
Sammanfattning : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a material with many useful properties. It is used most widely as a pigment in white paint, although in technological research it is better known for its ability to catalyze chemical reactions during light absorption. LÄS MER
2. Titanium Dioxide Photocatalysis in Biomaterials Applications
Sammanfattning : Despite extensive preventative efforts, the problem of controlling infections associated with biomedical materials persists. Bacteria tend to colonize on biocompatible materials and form biofilms; thus, novel biomaterials with antibacterial properties are of great interest. LÄS MER
3. Electronic and Structural Properties of Thin Films of Phthalocyanines and Titanium Dioxide
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on experimental studies in chemical physics. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) and phthalocyanine’s (Pc’s), interesting in many future perspectives, have been deposited as thin films and studied as follows. Information has been obtained on e.g. LÄS MER
4. Hydrolytic Synthesis and Physicochemical Properties of TiO2 Nanoparticles: Fundamentals and Applications
Sammanfattning : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were synthesized via the hydrolysis of TiCl4 in order to produce clean, surfactant-free oxide surfaces. By controlling the synthesis and aging conditions, stable particles with well-defined size distributions were obtained. LÄS MER
5. Quantum Chemical Modeling of Dye-Sensitized Titanium Dioxide : Ruthenium Polypyridyl and Perylene Dyes, TiO2 Nanoparticles, and Their Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Quantum chemical calculations have been used to model dye-sensitized nanostructured titanium dioxide systems that can be used in solar cells for solar energy to electricity conversion. Structural, electronic and spectral properties of isolated dyes and both bare and dye-sensitized TiO2 have been calculated with density functional theory, providing detailed information about both the separate parts and the dye-TiO2 interface.
