  1. 6. Regulation of Tissue Factor and Coagulation Activity : Translation Studies with Focus on Platelet-Monocyte Aggregates and Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome

    Författare :Christina Christersson; Agneta Siegbahn; Lars Wallentin; Jonas Oldgren; Ingebjorg Seljeflot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Internal medicine; Myocardial infarction; Coagulation; Platelet-monocyte aggregates; Tissue factor; Thrombin inhibition; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Myocardial infarction (MI) is often caused by a disruption of an atherosclerotic plaque with activation of coagulation, platelets and inflammation. The aims were; to investigate whether the oral direct thrombin inhibitor, ximelagatran affected markers for coagulation, platelet and inflammation in a patient cohort with recent MI and if the coagulation markers could identify patients with increased risk of new ischemic events; to evaluate some of the mechanisms involved in formation of platelet-monocyte aggregates (PMAs). 2. 7. Tissue Factor in Transplantation -aspects on expression and inhibition

    Författare :Cecilia Österholm; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nephrotoxicity; tissue factor; transplantation; ischemia-reperfusion injury; serologi; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; extracellulära vätskor; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; traumatology; Kirurgi; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Surgery; orthopaedics; ortopedi; traumatologi; Haematology; chronic rejection;

    Sammanfattning : Organ transplantation provides a treatment of end-stage disease primarily in the kidney, liver and heart. The immunosuppressive treatment regimens of today efficiently prevent early acute rejection; however the long-term survival has not improved to the same extent. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Adipose tissue as an active organ : blood flow regulation and tissue-specific glucocorticoid metabolism

    Författare :Jonas Andersson; Tommy Olsson; Stefan Söderberg; Sverker Jern; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1; adipose tissue; autonomic nervous system; blood flow; cortisol; nitric oxide; weight loss.; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Despite advances in the treatment of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. With the population getting older and more obese, the burden of cardiovascular disease may further increase. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Crosstalk between Inflammation and Coagulation in Acute Pancreatitis - Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Författare :Ellen Andersson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation; acute pancreatitis; active site inactivated factor VII; bleeding; coagulation; factor VII; FVIIai; hemorrhagic complications; hemorrhage; interleukin-6; MIP-2; nuclear factor kappa B; tissue factor;

    Sammanfattning : In various inflammatory conditions a close interplay between inflammation and coagulation is known to exist, where coagulation factor VII (FVII) and tissue factor (TF) are considered to be pivotal players. In this thesis the crosstalk between inflammation and coagulation in acute pancreatitis (AP) has been investigated. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Tissue specific functions of Early B-cell factor in cellular differentiation

    Författare :Anna Lagergren; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transcription factor; extracellular fluids; Haematology; tissue specific; cellular differentiation; EBF; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : This work focus on the functions by which the transcription factor Early B-cell Factor (EBF) regulate gene expression in different cell types. To address this question, gene expression analyses aimed to investigate the regulatory role of EBF in neuroblastoma cells, B-lymphocytes, adipocytes and stromal cells were performed. LÄS MER
