21. Monoglyceride Lipase and Hormone-Sensitive Lipase - Molecular and structural aspects
Sammanfattning : Triglycerides in the adipocyte are hydrolysed by means of three consecutive reactions through the combined action of two lipases: hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and monoglyceride lipase (MGL). HSL catalyses the first and rate-limiting step, i.e. LÄS MER
22. Development of Methods for Assessing Unbound Drug Exposure in the Brain : In vivo, in vitro and in silico
Sammanfattning : The blood-brain barrier is formed by tightly joined capillary cells with transporter proteins and acts as to regulate the brain concentration of nutrients as well as many drugs. When developing central nervous system drugs it is necessary to measure the unbound drug concentration in the brain, i.e. the unbound brain exposure. LÄS MER
23. Distribution and function of TRP ion channels in primary sensory neurons
Sammanfattning : It is frequently argued that cannabinoids exert part of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects via activation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor located on TRPV1-expressing primary sensory nerve fibres in peripheral tissues. However, we find no evidence of CB1 receptor immunoreactivity on nerve fibres in rat or mouse hindpaw skin and mesenteric artery. LÄS MER
24. Catalytic Properties and Tissue Distribution of Cytochrome P450 4F8 and 4F12 : Expression of CYP4F8 in Eye Tissues and Psoriatic Lesions
Sammanfattning : The human cytochrome P450 (CYP) family of monooxygenases is important for metabolism of drugs and endogenous compounds, e.g., vitamin A and D, cholesterol, steroids, fatty acids, and eicosanoids. This thesis describes the tissue distribution, catalytic properties, and possible function of CYP4F8 and CYP4F12. LÄS MER
25. Cartilage Tissue Engineering; the search for chondrogenic progenitor cells and associated signalling pathways
Sammanfattning : The socioeconomic cost of articular cartilage related diseases in the Western world is very high. The suffering of the individual patient is even more problematic. LÄS MER
