  2. 2. Adipose tissue as an active organ : blood flow regulation and tissue-specific glucocorticoid metabolism

    Författare :Jonas Andersson; Tommy Olsson; Stefan Söderberg; Sverker Jern; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1; adipose tissue; autonomic nervous system; blood flow; cortisol; nitric oxide; weight loss.; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Despite advances in the treatment of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. With the population getting older and more obese, the burden of cardiovascular disease may further increase. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tissue reactions to biomaterials

    Författare :Agneta Rosengren; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []

    Sammanfattning : The biological response to different implanted biomaterials vary. The relative importance of factors in the material and host for this variation are at present incompletely known. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Small-Scale Absorbed Dose Modelling in Selective Internal Radiation Therapy : Microsphere Distribution in Normal Liver Tissue

    Författare :Jonas Högberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clusters; dosimetry; heterogeneity; liver; microspheres; radioembolisation; simulations; SIRT; surgery; yttrium-90;

    Sammanfattning : Radioembolisation (RE), with yttrium-90 (90Y) labelled microspheres, is an increasingly common treatment method for unresectable liver tumours. The tolerable mean absorbed dose for normal liver (NL) tissue is higher in RE than in External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT); absorbed dose heterogeneity is thought to be one important reason, together with a low absorbed dose rate, but the knowledge of microsphere distributions is limited. 5. 5. Analysis of Perfluoroalkyl Acids in Swedish Biota : Temporal trends, tissue distribution and toxicity

    Författare :Katrin Holmström; Urs Berger; Gregg Tomy; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Perfluorinated alkyl acids (PFAS) are ubiquitous environmental contaminants. They are found in high concentrations in top predators worldwide, with perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) as the predominant compound. LÄS MER
