11. The Non-Linear Instantaneous Least Squares Approach to Signal Parameter Estimation
Sammanfattning : Estimation of parameters of non-stationary signals observed in noise is a challenging and difficult task, motivated by applications such as radar and mobile tele-communication. Here, a novel method for signal parameter estimation named the Non-linear Instantaneous Least Squares (NILS) approach is presented, which can be applied to linear and non-linear signals, and to both uniformly and non-uniformly sampled data. 12. On methods for pattern recognition with application to epileptic electroencephalograms
Sammanfattning : The thesis treats methods for pattern recognition in multichannel electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, for application to diagnostics of epilepsy. Parts I-IV treat methods for feature extraction and clustering of EEG spikes, occurring between epileptic seizures, and part V presents a method for filtering seizure onset EEG signals. LÄS MER
13. Modelling and Inference using Locally Stationary Processes : Biomedical applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers statistical methods for non-stationary signals, specifically stochastic modelling, inference on the model parameters and optimal spectral estimation. The models are based on Silverman’s definition of Locally Stationary Processes (LSPs). LÄS MER
14. Novel Approaches to ECG-Based Modeling and Characterization of Atrial Fibrillation
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with signal processing algorithms for analysis of the electrocardiogram (ECG) during atrial fibrillation (AF). Such analysis can be used for diagnosing patients, and for monitoring and predicting their response to various treatment. LÄS MER
15. Spectral Analysis for Signal Detection and Classification : Reducing Variance and Extracting Features
Sammanfattning : Spectral analysis encompasses several powerful signal processing methods. The papers in this thesis present methods for finding good spectral representations, and methods both for stationary and non-stationary signals are considered. LÄS MER
