  1. 11. Simulations And Experiments Of Plasma-Induced Effects In Silicon Detectors

    Författare :Ana Maria Gomez L; Ali Al-Adili; Diego Tarrío; Stephan Pomp; Andreas Solders; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VERDI - VElocity foR Direct particle Identification; PIPS - Passive Implanted Planar Silicon; PDT - Plasma Delay Time; PHD - Pulse Height Defect; FF - Fission Fragment; ToF - Time-of-flight; MCP - Micro Channel Plat; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : When an atomic nucleus undergoes fission, two fragments with different mass and kinetic energy are emitted. The highly unstable fission fragments (FFs) evaporate prompt neutrons soon after the nucleus splits. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Segmented HPGe detectors for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Design and demonstration in gamma emission tomography

    Författare :Vikram Rathore; Peter Andersson; Erik Andersson Sundén; Ane Håkansson; Andrew Boston; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Segmented HPGe detector; Nuclear fuel; Post-irradiation examination; Nuclear fuel diagnostics; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma spectroscopy; Non-destructive fuel testing; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma emission tomography (GET) is a proven non-invasive technique for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel. In the past, collimated HPGe detectors were used for GET measurements due to their good energy resolution. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Study of Collimated Neutron Flux Monitors for MAST and MAST Upgrade

    Författare :Siriyaporn Sangaroon; Göran Ericsson; Marco Cecconello; Matthias Weiszflog; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Measurements of the neutron emission, resulting from nuclear fusion reactions between the hydrogen isotopes deuterium and tritium, can provide a wealth of information on the confinement properties of fusion plasmas and how these are affected by Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic (MHD) instabilities.This thesis describes work aimed to develop neutron measurement techniques for nuclear fusion plasma experiments, specifically regarding the performance and design of collimated neutron flux monitors (neutron cameras) for the Mega Ampere Spherical Tokamak, MAST, and for MAST Upgrade. 4. 14. Gamma radiation techniques for non-destructive post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Predicting performance and optimizing instrument design

    Författare :Lorenzo Senis; Peter Andersson; Erik Andersson Sundén; Ane Håkansson; Fabiola Cappia; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collimated gamma spectroscopy; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma transmission micro-densitometry; Pareto optimization; Post-irradiation examination; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Collimated gamma-based techniques are widely used to study nuclear fuel, especially for non-destructive post-irradiation examination (PIE). Examples of such techniques include gamma emission tomography (GET) and gamma transmission densitometry (GTD). LÄS MER

  5. 15. A feasibility study of coolant void detection in a lead-cooled fast reactor using fission chambers

    Författare :Peter Wolniewicz; Nils Sandberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutron monitoring spectrum fast reactor fission chamber coolant void; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : One of the future reactor technologies defined by the Generation-IV International Forum (GIF) is the Lead-Cooled Fast Reactor (LFR). An advantage with this reactor technology is that steam production is accomplished by means of heat exchangers located within the primary reactor vessel, which decreases costs and increases operational safety.
