21. Gait in patients with knee osteoarthritis : effects of preoperative physical therapy and two surgical interventions
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis is a common joint disease with impact on all different aspects of health. This thesis will focus on time and distance measurements of gait and clinical tests in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). The overall perspective of the thesis is that of a physical therapist. 22. Total knee arthroplasty : Alternative aspects on fixation, design and postoperative treatment
Sammanfattning : Total knee arthroplasty as a treatment of severe gonarthrosis has become a great success, but tibial component loosening is still a major reason for failure. When total knee arthroplasty was introduced, only all-polyethylene (AP) tibial components were available. LÄS MER
23. Dynamic knee stability after anterior cruciate ligament injury : Emphasis on rehabilitation
Sammanfattning : Anterior cruciate ligament injury leads to increased sagittal tibial translation, and perceptions of instability and low confidence in the knee joint are common. Many patients have remaining problems despite treatment and are forced to lower their activity level and prematurely end their career in sports. LÄS MER
24. On treatment of medial gonarthrosis
Sammanfattning : This study, comprising 7 separate papers, is concerned with treatment of medial gonarthrosis. Results after high tibial osteotomy were found to deteriorate 8-9 years after surgery. The best results were seen in knees with preoperative Stage I or II osteoarthrosis and valgus deviation after osteotomy. LÄS MER
25. Knee joint kinematics and the effects of arthropasty component design
Sammanfattning : Aims: To evaluate the influence of medial osteoarthritis on knee joint kinematics and the effect of design in total knee replacements (TKR) on the kinematics of trunk, hip, knee and ankle. Associations between articulating surface design, clinical outcome and fixation of the tibial component were also evaluated. LÄS MER
