  1. 6. Studies of tibial fractures using the Swedish Fracture Register

    Författare :David Wennergren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fracture register; Tibial Fracture; Classification; Reliability; Agreement; Accuracy; Epidemiology; Incidence; Treatment; Reoperation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has two topics. First, the creation and application of the Swedish Fracture Register (SFR) is described. Second, a series of studies of tibial fractures based on data from the SFR follows. LÄS MER

  2. 7. On the treatment of tibial fractures using the Ilizarov fixator

    Författare :Telmo Oliveira Ramos; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tibial fracture; external fixation; load; EQ-5D; NHP; VAS; intramedullary nail; gait analysis; randomised study;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to analyse the results of the Ilizarov method in patients with different types of tibial fracture and compare them with conventional methods, in terms of primary union, complication rates, post-operative function, quality of life, and how the patients´ gait was affected during rehabilitation. Fifty-eight patients with isolated diaphyseal fractures (Study I) were randomised to treatment with either the Ilizarov method (IL) or locked intramedullary nailing (IM). LÄS MER

  4. 9. The Influence of Physical Activity on Musculoskeletal Characteristics and Fracture Risk at Growth

    Författare :Fredrik Detter; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BMC; BMD; pQCT; DXA; Fractures; Children; Bone; Muscle;

    Sammanfattning : Physical Activity (PA) can improve neuromuscular development. A high level of physical activity can perhaps however lead to more fractures. This is a longitudinal population-based exercise intervention study where the school-based physical education (PE) in one school is increased from mean 60 min/week to mean 200 min/ week. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Patients with femoral and tibial shaft fractures : aspects on epidemiology and pain therapy

    Författare :Zewar Al Dabbagh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Fractures of the tibial and femoral shafts are common injuries with outcomes depending on injury mechanism, fracture pattern, patient-specific data and treatment methods. Nationwide epidemiological data on these often serious injuries are sparse. LÄS MER
