   Sammanfattning : CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) is an advanced technique for depositing a coating on a substrate. CVD implies that a solid phase is deposited on a normally heated substrate surface using a reactive, gaseous mixture.    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the influence of the structure andchemical composition of platinum surfaces on the adsorption ofsome molecules. Three main lines can be distinguished : 1) thecharacterisation of clean/modified surfaces, 2) the adsorptionof some simple atoms and molecules on these surfaces andfinally 3) the adsorption of 2-butenal, a bi-functionalmolecule containing a C=C group conjugated with a C=O group.    Sammanfattning : The thesis arises out of a new find from Mörtträsket, Lapland, which can be compared with the eleven so called "Finds from Lapp Places of Sacrifice" from North Scandinavia, dated to c. 1000-1350.
