  1. 1. On the Road to a Software Profession : Students’ Experiences of Concepts and Thresholds

    Författare :Jonas Boustedt; Michael Thuné; Roy Nilsson; Erkki Sutinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Biographies; class diagram; computer science education; computer science education research; computing concepts; concept map; content analysis; higher education; java interface; learning; object orientation; phenomenography; programming; role-play; software development; software profession; threshold concepts; variation theory; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot datavetenskapens didaktik; Computer Science with specialization in Computer Science Education Research;

    Sammanfattning : Research has shown that there are gaps in knowledge between newly hired and experienced professionals and that some of these gaps are related to concepts, such as the concepts of object orientation. This problem, and the fact that most computer science majors want to work in the software industry, leads to questions regarding why these gaps exist and how students can be better prepared for their future careers. 2. 2. Crossing the threshold : Visualization design and conceptual understanding of evolution

    Författare :Andreas C. Göransson; Lena Tibell; Konrad Schönborn; Anat Yarden; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Evolution; Natural selection; Visualization; Conceptual understanding; Conceptual change;

    Sammanfattning : The theory of evolution is considered the unifying theory of biology. An accurate understanding of evolution is vital both for the understanding of diverse topics in biology, but also for societal issues such as antibiotic resistance or biodiversity. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In recent times the need for educational research dedicated to engineering education has been recognised. This PhD project is a contribution to the development of engineering education scholarship and the growing body of engineering education research. In this project it was recognised that problem solving is a central activity to engineering. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Beyond Moral Teaching : Financial Literacy as Citizenship Education

    Författare :Mattias Björklund; Niklas Jakobsson; Martin Kristiansson; Johan Sandahl; Jan Löfström; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; financial literacy; social studies; upper secondary school; citizenship education; teaching; learning; pedagogical work; subject-matter didaktik; PCK; threshold concepts; variation theory; Beutelsbach consensus; powerful knowledge; second order concepts; Pedagogiskt arbete; Educational Work;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores what financial literacy is, what financial literacy becomes and what financial literacy could become within the context of a citizenship education such as the Swedish upper secondary subject of social studies.  Financial literacy does not intuitively converge with social sciences which leaves social studies teachers to both teach and realise financial literacy.
