  1. 16. Acoustic, Thermal and Non-thermal Dynamics in Condensed Matter Studied by Time-Resolved X-ray Diffraction

    Författare :Carl Ekström; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; X-ray diffraction; Time-resolved; Ultrafast; Non-thermal melting; Thermal conductivity; Pressure wave; Opto-acoustic transducer; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Ekström;

    Sammanfattning : The method of using short laser and X-ray pulses to investigate dynamics in materials (pump-probe) has been used for several decades. This thesis presents work that was carried out using these sources of light to reveal acoustic, thermal and non-thermal dynamics. LÄS MER

  2. 17. On the Microstructure and the Thermal Conductivity in Compacted Graphite Iron

    Författare :Martin Selin; Ingvar L. Svensson; Daniel Holmgren; Lars Nyborg; Kenneth Hamberg; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compacted graphite iron; Microstructure; Thermal conductivity; Ferrite; Cementite; Nodularity; Mathematical modelling; Laser flash technique; Austempering;

    Sammanfattning : Compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a cast iron material that has gained much attention due to its attractive material properties which are intermediate between those of grey and ductile cast iron. In the automotive industry compacted graphite iron has become an interesting alternative material to grey cast iron in components like cylinder blocks or cylinder heads. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Thermal Modelling of the Caledonian Basin, Scandinavia and a Northern North Sea Profile

    Författare :Jörgen Samuelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; petroleum; vitrinite reflectance; thermal maturation; flexural rigidity; heat flow; suppression; thermal conductivity; North West Shelf; Alum Shale;

    Sammanfattning : The reason for the registered high paleotemperatures of the Scandinavian Alum Shale was investigated by heat flow modelling constrained by vitrinite-like reflectance. The behaviour of the lithosphere under a load was modelled and the paleotemperatures were explained by burial of the Alum Shale in a foreland basin, developing during the Caledonian orogeny. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Determination of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in district heating mains : Field measurements

    Författare :Karin Margaretha Borgström; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating main; field measurements; thermal conductivity; measuring method; heat flow measurement; heat flux sensor; Material physics with surface physics; Materialfysik med ytfysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of a measurement method for determination in the field of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in buried district heating mains. The thermal conductivity of the insulation is calculated from the measured value of the radial heat flow through the heating main, the measured temperature difference across the insulation, and the dimensions of the heating main. 5. 20. Development of a non-destructive field testing method for thermal assessment of district heating pipes

    Författare :Peter Lidén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat losses; thermal status; valve; polyurethane; cooling method; non-destructive testing; thermal conductivity; district heating network;

    Sammanfattning : The thermal state of a district heating (DH) network governs the heat losses. It is a parameter considered if a change is to be made in the network. Heat losses are costly and economic aspects are important when planning for the maintenance or replacement of DH pipes. LÄS MER
