11. Concrete creep and thermal stresses : new creep models and their effects on stress development
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problem of creep in concrete and its influence on thermal stress development. New test frames were developed for creep of high performance concrete and for measurements of thermal stress development. Tests were performed on both normal strength and high performance concretes. 12. Thermal cracking of young concrete : partial coefficients, restraint effects and influence of casting joints
Sammanfattning : Cracks can occur due to temperature induced movements during the hardening phase of concrete. Thermal cracks are not decisive for the load-bearing capacity but cause costs for repair and may reduce the life of the structure. The risk of cracking can be judged through safety values, (partial coefficients) given in building codes. LÄS MER
13. NOUR - Daylighting and thermal effects of windows in desert houses
Sammanfattning : This study is on a combined effect of window, the daylighting and the thermal effects, in desert houses. It is comprised of two complementary studies. In the introduction a historical review on the development of use daylight has been carried out in order to place the case study in a historical perspective. LÄS MER
14. Functional Fibers for Biomedical and Thermal Management Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the integration of electrospun polymeric structures in two fields; fibrous scaffolds as cell culture substrates for biomedical applications and fiber carrier networks in metal matrix polymer composites as thermal interface materials in microsystems. Electrospinning has been found to carry great potential for a range of future biomedical engineering applications. LÄS MER
15. Cold exposure and thermal comfort among patients in prehospital emergency care : innovation research in nursing
Sammanfattning : BackgroundPatients’ cold exposure is a neglected problem in prehospital emergency care. Cold stress increases pain and anxiety and contributes to fear and an overall sense of dissatisfaction. When left untreated, cold stress disturbs vital body functions until ultimately reaches hypothermia. LÄS MER
