  1. 1. Indoor thermal environment in Supermarkets : A study of measured and perceived comfort parameters

    Författare :Ulla Lindberg; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; thermal environment; supermarket; interdisciplinary; display cabinets; refrigeration systems; thermal comfort;

    Sammanfattning : In the supermarket environment three different groups must be considered: food (food quality), personnel (working conditions) and customers. Customers are of particular interest since they make up the commercial basis for the supermarket. Currently, however, there are no recommendations on the indoor environment for this category. 2. 2. Possibilities of using thermal mass in buildings to save energy, cut power consumption peaks and increase the thermal comfort

    Författare :Jonathan Karlsson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; concrete; aggregates; heat capacity; thermal properties; thermal conductivity; thermal inertia; thermal mass; time constant; Energy storage;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to generate knowledge to enable us to take advantage of heat storage in heavy building structures with regard to as energy savings, better thermal indoor climate, and reduced peak powers. This could include buildings that can function without energy input during cold periods, buildings that give a robust indoor climate without installed cooling, and buildings with good thermal comfort also in case of higher outdoor temperatures resulting from global warming. 3. 3. Comfort climate evaluation with thermal manikin methods and computer simulation models

    Författare :Håkan O. Nilsson; Håkan O Nilsson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; equivalent temperature; subject; thermal manikin; mannequin; thermal climate assessment; heat loss; office environment; cabin climate; ventilated seat; computer model; CFD; clothing-independent; comfort zone diagram; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur; thermal environment; cabin; climate;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing concern about energy consumption and the simultaneous need for an acceptable thermal environment makes it necessary to estimate in advance what effect different thermal factors will have on the occupants. Temperature measurements alone do not account for all climate effects on the human body and especially not for local effects of convection and radiation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cold exposure and thermal comfort among patients in prehospital emergency care : innovation research in nursing

    Författare :Jonas Aléx; Britt-Inger Saveman; Stig Karlsson; Ulf Björnstig; Inggard Lereim; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; thermal comfort; thermal discomfort; cold exposure; cold stress; hypothermia; patients’ experiences; active warming; prehospital emergency care; finger temperature; back temperature; omvårdnadsforskning med medicinsk inriktning; Caring Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundPatients’ cold exposure is a neglected problem in prehospital emergency care. Cold stress increases pain and anxiety and contributes to fear and an overall sense of dissatisfaction. When left untreated, cold stress disturbs vital body functions until ultimately reaches hypothermia. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Influence of thermal mass on the heating and cooling demands of a building unit

    Författare :Fredrik Ståhl; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal mass; environmental impact; thermal comfort; heat storage; life cycle; building energy use; earth tube heat exchanger; comfort interval; heavy or light buildings; building structure;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this work is to find to what extent the thermal properties of the building materials, the allowed indoor temperature swing, determined by the comfort interval, and, to some extent, the ventilation strategy can affect the heating and cooling demand of a building. It is well known that a thermally heavy building, that is a building with a high heat capacity, often demands less energy for heating and cooling and have a more stabile indoor temperature due to heat storage in the building structure.
