  1. 1. Towards Myosin Powered Lab-on-a-Chip Devices

    Författare :Lasse ten Siethoff; Alf Månsson; Miklos Kellermayer; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; myosin; actin; molecular motors; lab-on-a-chip; nanobiotechnology; bionanotechnology; diagnostics; nanowires; nanowire arrays; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Myosins are protein motors that use chemical energy in the form of adenosinetriphosphate to produce force and motion. These molecular motors might be usedto power transportation in Lab-on-a-chip devices where a series of laboratory tasks(e.g. separation, concentration and detection) are performed in one sequence on asmall chip. 2. 2. Time-resolved Structural and Mechanistic Studies of Water Oxidation in Photosystem II : water here, water there, water everywhere

    Författare :Casper de Lichtenberg; Johannes Messinger; Wolfgang P. Schröder; Holger Dau; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxygenic Photosynthesis; Photosystem II; TR-MIMS; isotope exchange; EPR; EDNMR; water splitting; water oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygenic photosynthesis is undisputedly one of the most important chemical processes for human life on earth as it not only fills the atmosphere with the oxygen that we need to breathe, but also sustains the accumulation of biomass, which is not only used as nourishment but is also present in almost every aspect of our lives as building material, textiles in clothes and furniture, or even as living decorations to name a few.The photosynthetic water-splitting mechanism is catalyzed by a water:plastoquinone oxido-reductase by the name of photosystem II (PSII), which is embedded in the thylakoid membranes of plants, algae and cyanobacteria. 3. 3. Low Frequency Impact Sound in Timber Buildings : Transmission Measurements and Simulations

    Författare :Jörgen Olsson; Andreas Linderholt; Börje Nilsson; Carl Hopkins; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Timber floors; FE-simulations; Light weight floors; Frequency response functions; Building acoustics; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : An increased share of multi-story buildings that have timber structures entails potential in terms of increased sustainability as well as human-friendly manufacturing and habitation. Timber buildings taller than two stories were prohibited in Europe until the 1990s due to fire regulations. In 1994, this prohibition was removed in Sweden. LÄS MER
