6. Interactive Textile Structures : Creating Multifunctional Textiles based on Smart Materials
Sammanfattning : Textiles of today are materials with applications in almost all our activities. We wear clothes all the time and we are surrounded with textiles in almost all our environments. The integration of multifunctional values in such a common material has become a special area of interest in recent years. LÄS MER
7. 3D printing of polymers onto textiles : An innovative approach to develop functional textiles
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at characterizing tridimensional (3D) printed polymers onto PET textile materials via fused deposition modeling (FDM) that uses both non-conductive and conductive polymers, optimizing their mechanical and electrical properties through statistical modeling and enhancing them with pre and post-treatments and the development of polymer blends. This research work supports the development of technical textiles through 3D printing that may have functionalities. LÄS MER
8. Luminescent textiles using biobased products : A bioinspired approach
Sammanfattning : Nature has designed a few biobased molecules that are responsible for bioluminescence and photoluminescence in some living species. In this thesis, the potential use of luminescence phenomena existing in nature toward the attainment of luminescent textiles was explored. LÄS MER
9. Manufacturing Decisions and A Multi-Tier Supply Location Decision-Support Model for Enhancing Sustainability in Textile and Clothing Supply Chains
Sammanfattning : A recent trend towards sustainability has led to increases in various sustainable practices, but sustainability has still not been fully implemented into manufacturing and supply location decisions. A fragmented product supply chain, which has various locations and multi-tier suppliers, leads to difficulties in traceability to ensure the supply chain has business, environmental, and social/socio-economic sustainability, known as the triple bottom line (TBL). 10. Relational textiles : surface expressions in space design
Sammanfattning : The emergence of the Smart Textiles field opens possibilities for designers to combine traditional surface fabrication techniques with advanced technology in the design process. The purpose of this work is to develop knowledge on interactive knitted textiles as materials for architecture and to do so through practice-based design research. LÄS MER
