1. Groundwater defluoridation by natural minerals : Understanding the process of fluoride removal from drinking water sources in Tanzania
Sammanfattning : Fluoride (F-) concentration in drinking water is one of the water quality parameters in countries with high concentrations in groundwater sources. Natural minerals have shown considerable effectiveness in F- removal. LÄS MER
2. Thermodynamics and Kinetics in Metallurgical Processes - with a Special Focus on Bubble Dynamics
Sammanfattning : Gas stirring is commonly used in the steelmaking processes to reinforce chemical reactions, kinetic transfer, and inclusion removal, etc. This dissertation concentrates on multiphase flows with gas bubbling to study fluid dynamics and thermodynamics in metallurgical processes. 3. Formation of Bainite Studied by In-situ High-energy X-ray Diffraction
Sammanfattning : Bainitic steels have attracted great attentions in recent years due to their excellent combination of properties to accommodate a wide range of applications. A deep and comprehensive understanding of how bainite forms is required to better design the production process and optimize the properties of bainitic steels. LÄS MER
4. Integrated Computational and Experimental Study of Additively Manufactured Steels
Sammanfattning : The design freedom Additive Manufacturing (AM) offers provides new solutions for improving functionality in industrial applications. It also offers unique opportunities when it comes to materials design. LÄS MER
5. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Sammanfattning : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset.
