  1. 11. The effects of temperature on avian physiology, behavior and development

    Författare :Andreas Nord; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; clutch size; Cyanistes caeruleus; ecological immunology; energy expenditure; fever; Ficedula hypoleuca; heterothermy; hypothermia; incubation; life history; metabolic rate; Parus major; RMR; Taeniopygia guttata; temperature; winter;

    Sammanfattning : Temperature is a property of profound matter in all aspects of animal life, affecting both individual energy budgets and the environments in which animals reside. Thus, a proper understanding of the effects of temperature variation is instrumental in understanding not only animal form and function, but also the structure and dynamics of wild populations. 2. 12. On Thermal Conductivity and Strength in Compacted Graphite Irons : Influence of Temperature and Microstructure

    Författare :Martin Selin; Ingvar L. Svensson; Attila Diószegi; Steve Dawson; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compacted Graphite Iron; Thermal Conductivity; Mechanical Properties; Hardness; Microstructure; Plastic Deformation; Hollomon Equation; Elevated Temperature; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Thermal conductivity, hardness and strength are all highly important material properties, affecting the performance and life expectancy of components operating at elevated temperatures. The main purpose of this work has been to increase the knowledge and understanding concerning how mechanical and physical properties are affected by temperature and microstructure in compacted graphite irons. 3. 13. Temperatur i språk och tanke. En jämförande semantisk studie av svenska temperaturadjektiv

    Författare :Annika Bergström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; temperature adjectives; temperature; Swedish; text corpora; associations; cognitive semantics; primary metaphors; gradual metaphors;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, seven temperature adjectives in Swedish are analysed: varm ’warm’, kall ’cold’, het ’hot’, ljum/ljummen ’lukewarm’ or ’tepid’, kylig ’chilly’, sval ’cool’ and mild ’mild’. A model for analysis, inspired by cognitive semantics etc., has been elaborated for the purpose of analysing these adjectives. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Vegetation changes on Swedish mires : Effects of raised temperature and increased nitrogen and sulphur influx

    Författare :Urban Gunnarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Acidification; growth; long-term studies; mires; nitrogen; species richness; Sphagnum; succession; sulphur; temperature; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Since the start of the industrialisation, the deposition of nitrogen and sulphur and the atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases have increased. The main objectives of this study were to find how these changes in climate and deposition can change the vegetation of mire ecosystems and the growth of Sphagnumspecies. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Physical Environment and Occupant Thermal Perceptions in Office Buildings An Evaluation of Sampled Data from Five European Countries

    Författare :John Leland Stoops; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal sensation; Europe; thermal preference; seasonal variation; office buildings; temperature perception; outdoor temperature; interior temperature; field study; thermal comfort; Clo; Met; carbon dioxide;

    Sammanfattning : The results from a large field study of thermal comfort in European office buildings are reported. Measurements of physical environmental conditions and occupant perceptions were collected over sixteen months from twenty-six different office buildings located in France, Greece, Portugal, Sweden and the UK.
