1. Simulations of compressible flows associatedwith internal combustion engines
Sammanfattning : Vehicles with internal combustion (IC) engines fueled by hydrocarbon compoundshave been used for more than 100 years for ground transportation.During these years and in particular the last decade, the environmental aspectsof IC engines have become a major political and research topic. 2. Wind turbines over a hilly terrain: performance and wake evolution
Sammanfattning : The aim of this licentiate thesis is to investigate wind-turbines placed in a complex-terrain environment. This is done by studying the flow around small-scale wind-turbine models placed over a landscape model with hills, and by comparing the results with corresponding data obtained over a flat terrain model. 3. An experimental investigation of disturbance growth in boundary layer flows
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the early stages of transition to turbulence in two different baseflows, namely the Falkner-Skan-Cooke boundary layer (FSC) and the asymptotic suction boundary layer (ASBL). Grid-generated turbulence is studied in order to characterise the isotropy levels, free-stream turbulence levels and characteristic length scales that will be present in the receptivity study. 4. Impact of Icing on Wind Turbines Aerodynamic
Sammanfattning : Wind energy covered 11.6% of Europe electricity demand in 2017. Region with cold climates represent a strong potential for wind energy companies because of their sparse population and proper wind conditions. The global wind energy installations in cold climate regions is forecasted to reach a capacity of 186 GW by the end of 2020. LÄS MER
5. Numerical simulation of non-Newtonian fluids flow over surfaces
Sammanfattning : Wetting of surfaces by droplets of non-Newtonian fluids is important for various industrial and natural processes such as coating and cleaning of surfaces and inkjet printing, to name a few. Viscoelastic fluids are compounds of a very small amount of polymers and solvent. LÄS MER
