12. Exploring cross-resource impacts of urban sustainability measures : an urban climate-land-energy-water nexus analysis
Sammanfattning : In an increasingly urban world, cities' global resource uses grow. Two fundamental resources for making cities liveable are water and energy. These resources are also closely interlinked – systems that convert and deliver energy to cities require water, and urban water systems use energy. LÄS MER
13. Improving energy efficiency in logistics systems: On the road to environmental sustainability
Sammanfattning : Logistics are essential to efficiently managing the flow of materials and products between various nodes that operate in multiple systems. In that process, the activities of moving and storing materials and products, especially through road freight transport, consume significant energy resources and emit greenhouse gases that harm the environment. 14. Sales and operations planning based on a modularized view of supply chains : Supporting process industries and discrete manufacturing industries
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to propose a framework for sales and operations planning (S&OP), which is based on a modularized view of supply chains. The framework should support both process industries and discrete manufacturing industries in their quest for performance. LÄS MER
15. Farm-based technologies for management of risks from irrigation with wastewater-polluted sources in Cochabamba, Bolivia
Sammanfattning : Wastewater irrigation is a global practice that allows reusing water and nutrients in agriculture, but also poses risks of introducing pathogens/pollutants into agricultural systems and food. In order to manage these risks, on-farm measures can be implemented as barriers along the pathway that pathogens/pollutants must follow to reach the population/place at risk, in cases where treatment plants are not a viable option.
