11. Sustainability Transitions in Established Industries : The case of European Commercial Transport Vehicles
Sammanfattning : With the increasing trends in trade of goods and services as well as the expansion of road infrastructure and networks, commercial road transport has dominated a significant share of inland and urban logistics in the world and particularly in Europe. This includes not only the basic supply of citizens’ needs through long-haul traffic and short-distance city trucks but also by providing urban services such as courier delivery, household waste pickup and refuse collection as well as passengers movements by public bus transport and inter-city coach transit. 12. Studies of Materials and Interfaces for Organic Electronics
Sammanfattning : Organic electronics is a rapidly evolving field with vast number of applications having high potential for commercial success. Although a great progress has been made, many organic electronic applications: organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic fieldeffect transistors (OFETs), organic solar cells, etc; still require further optimization to fulfill the requirements for successful commercialization. 13. Growth and characterization of SiC and GaN
Sammanfattning : At present, focus of the SiC crystal growth development is on improving the crystalline quality without polytype inclusions, micropipes and the occurrence of extended defects. The purity of the grown material, as well as intentional doping must be well controlled and the processes understood. LÄS MER
14. Improved Frank-Wolfe directions with applications to traffic problems
Sammanfattning : The main contribution of this thesis is the development of some new efficient algorithms for solving structured linearly constrained optimization problems. The conventional Frank-Wolfe method is one of the most frequently used methods for solving such problems. LÄS MER
15. Multifunctional nanostructured Ti-Si-C thin films
Sammanfattning : In this Thesis, I have investigated multifunctional nanostructured Ti-Si-C thin films synthesized by magnetron sputtering in the substrate-temperature range from room temperature to 900 °C. The studies cover high-temperature growth of Ti3SiC2 and Ti4SiC3, low-temperature growth of Ti-Si-C nanocomposites, and Ti-Si-C-based multi¬layers, as well as their electrical, mechanical, and thermal-stability properties.
