Sammanfattning : Few vertebrate clades exhibit the evolutionary longevity and versatility of sharks, which constitute nearly half of all current chondrichthyan biodiversity and represent an ecological diversity of mid-to-apex trophic-level predators in both marine and freshwater environments. The rich fossil record of shark teeth from Mesozoic and Cenozoic rocks also makes the group amenable to large-scale quantitative analyses. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the use of various osseous raw materials in craft activities in the Mälaren region during the Middle Ages. Places studied are: Birka, Sigtuna, Nyköping, Strängnäs and Uppsala. The aim is to capture both chronological and spatial changes in the use of osseous raw materials. LÄS MER
5. Our Bones, who art contaminated : Glues, strontium isotopes, and mobility in early Swedish Christians
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to build upon previous research into contamination and its effects on isotopes by focusing on the strontium isotopic ratio (87Sr/86Sr), which is used in mobility studies to study the movements of past humans and animals and to build past economic trading networks. Contamination is a broad topic, and in the scope of this thesis, it concerns the introduction of contaminants from the soil after interment and the post-excavation preservation efforts. LÄS MER
