1. Human-centred design for maritime technology and organizational change
Sammanfattning : Context: The shipping industry is undergoing a transitional phase at different levels, including IMO’s e-Navigation initiative, and with this comes the need to use a human-centred design (HCD) approach to avoid accidents linked to automation issues, and to cater for the maintenance of safety and efficiency within this global transport system. Aims: The aim of this thesis is to investigate the value and challenges in HCD practice and how ergonomics/human factors (E/HF) principles can be introduced, as well as what gaps and opportunities exist in current standard operations and technologies in navigation that can potentially be followed upon by future e-Navigation developments, not only from a technological perspective but also regulatory, operational etc. LÄS MER
2. Plasmonics with a Twist: from Single Particles to Metasurfaces
Sammanfattning : Nanophotonics deals with how electromagnetic fields can be confined and squeezed to orders of dimensions below the light wavelength. Plasmonics, one of the fields of nanophotonics, study collective free electron oscillations driven by light in metallic nanostructures and interfaces. LÄS MER
3. Technological Change in an International Industrial System
Sammanfattning : Industrial systems resist change, more often, because heavy production facilities and industrial constructions are expensive and have long economic lives, but also because people tend to defend ingrained conceptions of how things are and how activities ought to be performed. Starting out from the question: “How does technological change come about in an international, industrial system?” the thesis investigates the interplay between technological, social, and economic factors. 4. Thermal and Photon Stimulated Reactions on Metal Particles
Sammanfattning : The interaction between molecules and solid surfaces influence our daily lives in many ways. One important example is heterogeneous catalysis where surface reactions, for example, are used for production of chemicals and exhaust after-treatment. LÄS MER
5. Dynamiskt belastade tribologiska system under plastisk formning, del II --- analyserade genom akustisk emission
Sammanfattning : The dynamic friction process and contact surface between tool and working material in a plastic forming process is hard to describe in mathematical form and hard to monitor and control in real time. High production speed and highly optimised forming operations result in great demands on the control equipment. LÄS MER
