  1. 1. Particle interactions and internal tablet structure : Factors affecting the mechanical strength of pharmaceutical compacts

    Författare :Helena Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : A simple tablet model was utilised to identify parameters responsible for tablet compactibility. In this model tablets were considered as homogeneous and isotropic aggregates of individual spherical particles. If the particles were located close enough to each other, interparticulate bonds were assumed to be developed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Multivariate methods in tablet formulation

    Författare :Jon Gabrielsson; Michael Sjöström; Svante Wold; Torbjörn Lundstedt; Marc Brown; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; PCA; statistical experimental design; multivariate design; PLS; excipients; direct compression; tablet formulation; robustness testing; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the application of multivariate methods in a novel approach to the formulation of tablets for direct compression. It begins with a brief historical review, followed by a basic introduction to key aspects of tablet formulation and multivariate data analysis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tableting performance of dry granulated particles : Significance and assessment of compression mechanical properties

    Författare :Maryam Tofiq; Göran Alderborn; Ann-Sofie Persson; Josefina Nordström; Peter Kleinebudde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dry granulation; Powder compression; Compression parameters; Granule composition; Granule structure; Granule strength; Granule fragmentation; Granule deformation; Tablet tensile strength; Loss of tabletability;

    Sammanfattning : Dry granulation (DG) is often utilized as an intermediate process during tablet manufacturing, for improving flow characteristics of the powder blend and/or reducing segregation issues related to the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). The resulting granules exhibit typically irregular shapes with rough surfaces and their mechanical properties are related to the feeding powder and the process parameters used during the DG. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Flow and Compression of Granulated Powders : The Accuracy of Discrete Element Simulations and Assessment of Tablet Microstructure

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Persson; Göran Frenning; Göran Alderborn; Marie Wahlgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Discrete Element Method; Granule; Flow; Angle of Repose; Discharge Rate; Shear; Rolling friction; Compression; Elastic deformation; Microstructure; Degree of compression; Tensile strength; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Simulations are powerful and important tools for gaining insight into powder processes. Ultimately, simulations have the potential to replace experiments. Thus, accurate models and insight into the essential factors for descriptions of powder behaviour are required. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Identification and Variation of some Functionality Related Characteristics of Pharmaceutically Relevant Solid Materials and their Effect on Product Performance

    Författare :Frauke Fichtner; Göran Alderborn; Åke Rasmuson; Peter Kleinebudde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutics; Particle size distribution; Degree of agglomeration; Amorphous lactose; Matrix agglomerates; Drug release; Compactability; Tablet tensile strength; Particle fracture strength; Surfactant; Compression; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify some functionality related characteristics of pharmaceutically relevant solid materials and to study the effect of their variation on processing behaviour and product performance. For this purpose, particles with different characteristics were prepared under a variety of conditions by crystal agglomeration, wet granulation and spray drying. LÄS MER
