  1. 21. Debugging metabarcoding for insect biodiversity studies

    Författare :Daniel Marquina Hernández; Fredrik Ronquist; Owen Wangensteen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metabarcoding; insects; non-destructive; DNA extraction; Malaise trap; preservative ethanol; environmental DNA; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : Insects are one of the most abundant and diverse animal groups, and they include many valuable ecological indicator species, but taxonomic discovery projects and biodiversity surveys targeting this group are often challenging. While mass trapping devices allow the collection of insects in great numbers, the task of identifying the species present is a painstaking and resource-demanding process. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Modulation of neutrophil extracellular trap formation in health and disease

    Författare :Ava Hosseinzadeh; Constantin F. Urban; Carol Munro; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neutrophils; Candida albicans; Adenosine; Tempol; Nicotine; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The critical prompt innate immune response is highly built upon the influx of neutrophils from the blood stream to the site of infection. In the battlefield, neutrophils sense pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) through their pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) to launch a number of responses with the goal to defeat the invading pathogen. 3. 23. Stewardship in an urban world : Civic engagement and human–nature relations in the Anthropocene

    Författare :Johan Enqvist; Maria Tengö; Örjan Bodin; Bengt G. Karlsson; Richard C. Stedman; Morgan Grove; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; agency; Bengaluru; boundary object; care; civil society; community; environmental ethics; knowledge; natural resource management; New York City; problem of fit; rigidity trap; sense of place; social–ecological system; urbanization; water governance; Sustainability Science; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : Never before have humans wielded a greater ability to alter and disrupt planetary processes. Our impact is becoming so noticeable that a new geological epoch has been proposed – the Anthropocene – in which Earth systems might no longer maintain the stable and predictable conditions of the past 12 millennia. 4. 24. Studies of Charge Transport Processes in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

    Författare :Kristofer Fredin; Anders Hagfeldt; Mukundan Thelakkat; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar cell; mesoporous; dye-sensitized; model; simulation; electron transport; trap distribution; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) have attained considerable attention during the last decade because of the potential of becoming a low cost alternative to silicon based solar cells. Although efficiencies exceeding 10% in full sunlight have been presented, major improvements of the system are however limited. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Vegetation and climate during Weichselian ice free intervals in northern Sweden : Interpretations from fossil and modern pollen records

    Författare :Martina Hättestrand; Ann-Marie Robertsson; Donatella Magri; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Weichselian; interstadial; stadial; glacial history; northern Sweden; Tärendö; Riipiharju; Rissejauratj; Veiki moraine; pollen analysis; pollen deposition; pollen trap; PAR; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the Weichselian history of northern Sweden is investigated, with emphasis on vegetation and climate during ice-free intervals. The main method used has been pollen analysis of sediments from pre-Late Weichselian landforms. To interpret fossil pollen assemblages, comparisons with modern pollen spectra were made. LÄS MER
