21. Studies of molecular mechanisms of action of TNF antagonists in rheumatoid arthritis
Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common chronic inflammatory disease characterized by progressive bone destruction that leads to joint deformity and physical disability. Even though several therapeutic drugs are available, none have emerged as an ideal RA treatment that delays joint destruction and halts disease progression. LÄS MER
22. Cytokine induced airway hyperreactivity characterized in an in-vitro model of asthma
Sammanfattning : Asthma is a chronic disorder of the lower airways, characterized by inflammation and hyperreactivity. Pro-inflammatory cytokines like tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) are known to play important roles in the pathogenesis, but our knowledge how these cytokines contribute to the development of airway hyperreactivity is limited. 23. Measure for measure. Outcome assessment of arthritis treatment in clinical practice
Sammanfattning : Objective: To investigate (i) the performance and agreement between various activity indices and response criteria in TNF-blockade of RA; (ii) the predictive ability of different response criteria and disease activity states regarding continuation of anti-TNF treatment of RA; (iii) Euro-QoL-5-dimensions utility development during TNF blockade of RA, PsA and SpA. Also, (iv) to develop a simple, utility-based outcome measure, the number needed to treat per quality adjusted life year gained (NNQ) and apply it in RA, PsA and SpA patients on anti-TNF treatment. 24. On the role of mast cells in chemokine-induced leukocyte recruitment
Sammanfattning : Leukocyte recruitment is considered to playa key role in numerous inflammatory diseases. Tissue accumulation of Jeukocytes is a multi-steps process comprising rolling, adhesion and transmigration. LÄS MER
25. Molecular targets for glucocorticoids in macrophages: cytosolic phospholipase A2 and cytokine formation
Sammanfattning : The aim of this investigation has been to study mechanisms by which glucocorticoids inhibit inflammatory processes in vitro. Type IV cytosolic 85 kDa phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) is an important modulator of inflammatory responses that is present in macrophages as well as in other cell types. LÄS MER
