11. The involvement of the TNF-alpha system in skeletal muscle in response to marked overuse
Sammanfattning : Painful conditions having the origin within the musculoskeletal system is a common cause for people to seek medical care. Between 20-40% of all visits to the primal care in Sweden are coupled to pain from the musculoskeletal system. Muscle pain and impaired muscle function can be caused by muscles being repetitively overused and/or via heavy load. LÄS MER
12. Processing of TNF-receptors to soluble receptor forms in myeloid cells
Sammanfattning : TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which binds to two cell surface receptors, TNF-R55 and TNF-R75. The receptors undergo proteolytic cleavage and release a fragment (soluble TNF-receptors or TNF-Binding Protein), TNF-R55-BP and TNF-R75-BP. Soluble TNF-receptors are able to bind and inactivate TNF. 13. Anti-TNF treatment of chronic arthritis in clinical practice. New assessment method and predictors of efficacy and tolerability
Sammanfattning : Abstract Treatment of chronic inflammatory arthritis has undergone major changes over the past years following introduction of targeted biological therapies. Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) blocking therapy has been the most important biological treatment of chronic arthritis to date. LÄS MER
14. Immunological Studies in Malignant Melanoma : Importance of TNF and the Thioredoxin System
Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma is a tumor whose incidence is dramatically increasing in persons with light-coloured skin in all parts of the world. Due to its resistance against traditional chemo- and radiotherapy, melanoma has been a favourite target of alternative therapies, in particular those involving immunological mechanisms. LÄS MER
15. Regulation of TNF-alpha : implications for health and disease
Sammanfattning : Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine, which is implicated in some metabolic disorders and may play a role in the development of cardiovascular disease. When healthy 50-year-old men were studied, the plasma TNF-alpha concentration was associated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure, degree of alimentary lipaemia, plasma VLDL triglyceride and LDL cholesterol concentrations, peak LDL particle size and all measured cell adhesion molecules.
