  1. 1. TNF-α and neurotrophins in Achilles tendinosis

    Författare :Johan Bagge; Sture Forsgren; Tomas Movin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; tendinosis; tendinopathy; neurotrophins; TNF-alpha; physical acitivity; apoptosis; proliferation; pain; remodelling; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Tenocytes are the principal cells of the human Achilles tendon. In tendinosis, changes in the metabolism and morphology of these cells occur. Neurotrophins are growth factors essential for the development of the nervous system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The involvement of the TNF-alpha system in skeletal muscle in response to marked overuse

    Författare :Lina Renström; Sture Forsgren; Per Stål; Håkan Alfredson; Eva Ekblad; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TNF-alpha; TNFR1; TNFR2; muscle damage; myositis; peritendinous tissue; tendinopathy;

    Sammanfattning : Painful conditions having the origin within the musculoskeletal system is a common cause for people to seek medical care. Between 20-40% of all visits to the primal care in Sweden are coupled to pain from the musculoskeletal system. Muscle pain and impaired muscle function can be caused by muscles being repetitively overused and/or via heavy load. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Signaling and regulation of cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in intestinal epithelial cells and colon cancer

    Författare :Astrid Bengtsson; Malmö Cellpatologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TNF alpha; COX-2; interferon alpha; all-trans retinoic acid; EGF; inflammation; colorectal cancer; CysLT2R; Leukotriene; CysLT1R;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the Western world. Chronic inflammation, such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), increases the risk of cancer. Cysteinyl leukotrienes are pro-inflammatory mediators that are involved in IBD. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of TNF-alpha : implications for health and disease

    Författare :Tiina Skoog; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adhesion molecules; adipocyte; atherosclerosis; DNase I HS site; EMSA; IMT; polymorphism; TNF-alpha;

    Sammanfattning : Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine, which is implicated in some metabolic disorders and may play a role in the development of cardiovascular disease. When healthy 50-year-old men were studied, the plasma TNF-alpha concentration was associated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure, degree of alimentary lipaemia, plasma VLDL triglyceride and LDL cholesterol concentrations, peak LDL particle size and all measured cell adhesion molecules. 5. 5. TNFalpha expression in monocytes/macrophages

    Författare :Karolina Andersson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomedicinska vetenskaper allmänt ; General biomedical sciences; Protein kinase; Macrophage; TNF;

    Sammanfattning : The recognition of microbes or microbial products by leukocytes is a key event in innate immunity. Binding of microbial products to cell surface receptors on phagocytes induce a response that includes the production of inflammatory mediators. One such mediator is the cytokine tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF). LÄS MER
