16. Additive-Driven Improvements in Interfacial Properties and Processing of TMP-Polymer Composites
Sammanfattning : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 17. A way of reducing the energy demand in TMP by shear/compression deformation
Sammanfattning : One of the major cost factors in mechanical pulp production is the electrical energy input. Much of the research in this field has therefore been devoted to an understanding of the mechanisms in the refining process and, consequently, to find ways of reducing the electrical energy consumption. 18. Measurement of shear force, temperature profiles and fibre development in mill-scale TMP refiners
Sammanfattning : Two different force sensors have been developed for tangential forcemeasurements in commercial TMP refiners, one is based on the use of piezoelectricsensors and the other on strain gauges. The measurements are used to learn moreabout the refining mechanism in both single-disc (SD) refiners and conical disc(CD) refiners. LÄS MER
19. The influence of fibre characteristics on bulk and strength properties of TMP and CTMP from spruce
Sammanfattning : This thesis is intended to contribute to an increased knowledge about the influence of fibre characteristics on bulk and strength properties of thermomechanical pulp (TMP) and chemithermomechanical pulp (CTMP) from spruce. It deals with laboratory sheet properties and how they are affected by the conditions during pressing and drying, e.g. LÄS MER
20. A Comprehensive Approach to Modeling and Control of Thermomechanical Pulping Processes
Sammanfattning : The central issue of the thesis is modeling and control of the Thermomechanical Pulp (TMP) process in which large refiners are used to produce pulp for newsprint. The TMP process is one of the most complex and versatile, electricity consuming industrial processes today. LÄS MER
