  1. 16. Tamoxifen response in primary breast cancer with special reference to tumour-specific VEGF-A and VEGFR2

    Författare :Lisa Rydén; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; prognosis; randomised controlled trial; adjuvant tamoxifen treatment; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2; breast cancer; vascular endothelial growth factor A;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Treatment of primary breast cancer is individualised and adjuvant systemic treatment is delivered to most patients after surgery. Oestrogen receptor (ER) status and progesterone receptor status (PR) can define patients who would benefit from adjuvant endocrine therapy with tamoxifen (TAM) alone or as chemo-endocrine therapy. 2. 17. Aspects of Gene Expression Profiling in Disease and Health

    Författare :Julia Bergman; Fredrik Pontén; Lars Akslen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; biomarkers; differential diagnostics; immunohistochemistry; transcriptomics; protein profiling; adrenal gland.; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to in various ways explore protein expression in human normal tissue and in cancer and to apply that knowledge in biomarker discovery.In Paper I the prognostic significance of RNA-binding motif protein 3 (RBM3) is explored in malignant melanoma. 3. 18. TISSUE MICROARRAY PERSPECTIVES ON CYCLIN D1 IN BREAST CANCER: Progression, prognosis and prediction

    Författare :Karin Jirström; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pathological anatomy; General pathology; tamoxifen resistance; CCND1; Breast cancer; tissue microarrays; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is a truly heterogenous disease, reflected in the existence of a wide spectrum of phenotypic subsets of tumours with varying intrinsic aggressiveness as well as ability to respond to a given treatment. Recent advances in large-scale genomic and proteomic screening techniques have confirmed this heterogeneity also at a molecular level, but there is still a bottleneck to be overcome before the discoveries in the laboratory can be translated into the much more complex clinical situation in order to develop better targeted therapies. 4. 19. Hypoxia inducible factor-1α in renal cell carcinoma

    Författare :Anders Lidgren; Börje Ljungberg; Torgny Rasmuson; Kjell Grankvist; Anders Bergh; Per-Uno Malmström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; renal cell carcinoma; hypoxia; RT-PCR; angiogenesis; western blot; tissue microarray; protein; mRNA; HIF-1 alpha; GLUT-1; survival; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1α in Renal Cell Carcinoma Departments of Surgical and Perioperative Sciences, Urology and Andrology; Radiation Sciences, Oncology; Medical Biosciences, Pathology; and Medical Biosciences, Clinical Chemistry, Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for approximately 2-3% of all human cancers. A distinguished feature of RCC is vascularisation and among the three dominating RCC types conventional RCC (cRCC) generally is more vascularised than papillary RCC (pRCC) and chromophobe RCC (chRCC). 5. 20. Markers of differentiation and prognosis in prostate cancer : a morphological and immunohistochemical study

    Författare :Axel Glaessgen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignancy in men worldwide. The disease shows a wide range of patient outcome between indolent and highly aggressive tumor behavior. Prognostic factors are needed to stratify PCa patients in different prognostic groups for treatment decision and to predict outcome. LÄS MER
