  1. 21. Immunopathological aspects of equine inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Karin Olofsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Intestinal inflammation is a major welfare issue for horses causing colic, diarrhoea and an inability to thrive. One of the diagnoses with poor prognosis is inflammatory bowel disease (eqIBD). LÄS MER

  2. 22. Innate immunity to intracellular bacterial infections

    Författare :Christian Trumstedt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Intracellular bacterial pathogens have developed mechanisms to enter and invade cells, to survive the immune response and to replicate inside the host. We studied the innate mechanisms that have evolved in the host to battle intracellular bacterial pathogens, such as the obligate intracellular Chlamydia pneumoniae and the facultative intracellular Listeria monocytogenes, which invade the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tracts in humans. 3. 23. Role of toll-like receptors in host responses to mucosal bacterial infections

    Författare :Fredrik Bäckhed; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The first contact between invading bacteria and the host occurs at the mucosal surface. Interestingly, the mucosal linings of different organs are exposed to bacteria to various degrees. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Clinical and pathogenic aspects of otitis media

    Författare :Anna Granath; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : One study on clinical treatment strategies in otitis media and two studies elucidating immunological events in otitis media in vitro, were conducted and joined in this thesis. First, topical treatment with or without systemic antibiotics against tube associated otorrhea in children with recurrent acute otitis media was evaluated. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Toll-like receptors in airway inflammation in vitro and in vivo

    Författare :Ida von Schéele; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During evolution a variety of solutions has been developed by different living organisms in order to protect itself from invading potential pathogens and particles. Protection of the host is essential for its survival and involves efficient recognition and elimination of potential pathogens. LÄS MER
