  1. 1. Physiological and biomechanical aspects of rifle carriage during biathlon skiing

    Författare :Malin Jonsson Kårström; Marko Laaksonen; Kerry McGawley; Guillaume Millet; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 3D-measurement; anaerobic energy contribution; crosscountry skiing; kinematics; lactate threshold; load carriage; oxygen uptake; performance; sex differences; sub-techniques; training;

    Sammanfattning : Biathlon is an endurance-based winter sport that combines crosscountry (XC) skiing with rifle marksmanship. While skiing, biathletes carry the rifle (weighing ≥ 3.5 kg) on their backs. However, research regarding the effects of rifle carriage in biathlon is lacking. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Over the Threshold, Into the World : Experiences of Transcendence in the Context of Staged Events

    Författare :Kim Skjoldager-Nielsen; Willmar Sauter; Anita Synnøve Hammer; Keld Hyldig; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; performance analysis; model; staged event; aesthetics of the performative; metaphysics of experience; immanent transcendence; theatre; ritual; installation; religion; spirituality; Erika Fischer-Lichte; Dorthe Jørgensen; Theatre Studies; teatervetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to develop an apparatus of theory and method for performance analysis, the purpose of which is to analyse potentials for experiences of transcendence. These experiences are contextualised in terms of the metaphysical, the religious, and the spiritual. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On Performance Evaluation of Automotive Active Safety Systems

    Författare :Jonas Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semi-Autonomous Vehicles; Active Safety; Automotive; Augmented Reality.; Verification; Performance Evaluation; Decision Making;

    Sammanfattning : Road traffic accidents are a major global problem, annually causing over 1.2 million fatalities. To improve road safety, active safety systems support the driver by monitoring the vehicle and its surroundings, identifying hazardous situations and actively intervening to prevent or mitigate consequences of accidents. 4. 4. Noise improves cognitive performance in children with dysfunctional neurotransmission

    Författare :Göran Söderlund; Sverker Sikström; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Edmund Sonuga-Barke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; ADHD; noise; stochastic resonance; dopamine; episodic memory; model; brain arousal; SPT; cognitive performance; children; Psychology; Psykologi; psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : Research on children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has shown that they are extremely sensitive to distraction from external stimuli that lead to poor cognitive performance. This thesis shows that cognitive performance can be improved if this external stimulus is smooth and continuous (e.g. auditory white noise). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Physiological demands of competitive elite cross-country skiing

    Författare :Magnus Carlsson; Michail Tonkonogi; Christer Malm; Eva Andersson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Performance capability; maximal oxygen uptake; lactate threshold; lean mass; double poling; power output; maximal speed; sprint skiing; distance skiing.; Hälsa och välfärd; Health and Welfare;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Researchers have, for decades, contributed to an increased collective understanding of the physiological demands in cross-country skiing; however, almost all of these studies have used either non-elite subjects and/or performances that emulate cross-country skiing. To establish the physiological demands of cross-country skiing, it is important to relate the investigated physiological variables to the competitive performance of elite skiers. LÄS MER
