  1. 1. Global Turbulent EquiPartition (TEP) in Tokamak Plasma

    Författare :Igor A. Ivonin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomy; turbulent plasma; TEP; scaling laws; transport barrier; tokamak; Astronomi; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik; Space and Plasma Physics; rymd- och plasmafysik;

    Sammanfattning : We studied analytically and numerically the establishment of global turbulent equipartition (TEP) of magnetised electrons in a tokamak plasma. This allows us to investigate self-consistently the inhomogeneous distributions of the plasma density, the electron and the ion temperatures, the generation of radial electric field and the poloidal and the toroidal rotation in the turbulent tokamak plasma. 2. 2. Laparoscopic or Open Inguinal Hernia Repair - Which is Best for the Patient?

    Författare :Arne Eklund; Claes Rudberg; Agneta Montgomery; Leif Bergkvist; Jacob Rosenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inguinal hernia; TEP; Lichtenstein; convalescence; recurrence; chronic pain; cost-minimisation; Surgery; Kirurgi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Inguinal hernia repair is the most common operation in general surgery. Its main challenge is to achieve low recurrence rates. With the introduction of mesh implants, first in open and later in laparoscopic repair, recurrence rates have decreased substantially. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Male inguinal hernia repair with mesh. Short- and long-term results and the question of infertility

    Författare :Magnus Hallén; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hernia repair; groin hernia; inguinal hernia; Lichtenstein; TEP; mesh; male infertility;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In the nineties, the patients with inguinal hernias were exposed to several newly developed repair techniques using alloplastic mesh prosthesis. Although the scientific knowledge was limited, the new techniques were rapidly introduced due to surgical enthusiasm, but also by an eagerness to reduce the recurrence rate and to shorten the time to recovery. 4. 4. Femoral and Inguinal Hernia : How to Minimize Adverse Outcomes Following Repair

    Författare :Ursula Dahlstrand; Ulf Gunnarsson; Gabriel Sandblom; Staffan Wollert; Andrew Kingsnorth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; femoral hernia; inguinal hernia; adverse outcome; complication; recurrence; chronic pain; long-term pain; emergency; mortality; TEP; Lichtenstein; local anesthesia; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Groin hernia is common, and each year 200 repairs per 100 000 adult inhabitants are performed in Sweden. Groin hernias are either inguinal or femoral (2-4%). Elective repair is not associated with an excess mortality, but adverse outcomes include recurrence and long-term pain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Minimally invasive hernia surgery

    Författare :Sven Bringman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Inguinal hernia; minimally invasive; laparoscopic; TEP; TAPP; Lichtenstein; Meshplug; tension-free; mesh; balloon; rehabilitation; Swedish Hernia Register; learning curve; complications; intestinal obstruction; polypropylene; polyglactin.;

    Sammanfattning : Minimally invasive laparoscopic and open tension-free techniques have been evolved during the 1990's. Different laparoscopic techniques have been used, where the totally extraperitoneal hernioplasty (TEP) is a technically demanding but probably a better approach to minimally invasive hernia surgery than the transabdominal preperitoneal technique (TAPP), which may increase the risk of adhesions and postoperative intestinal obstruction.
