6. On the Feasibility of Using Textile Electrodes for Electrical Bioimpedance Measurements
Sammanfattning : The application of textile electrodes has been widely studied for biopotential recordings, especially for monitoring cardiac activity. Commercially available applications, such as the Adistar T-shirt and the Numetrex Cardioshirt, have shown good performance for heart rate monitoring and are available worldwide. LÄS MER
7. Biofabrication, Biomechanics and Biocompatibility of Nanocellulose-based Scaffolds for Auricular Cartilage Regeneration
Sammanfattning : In about 2:10,000 births the external part of the ear, the auricle, is severely malformed or absent. Furthermore, tumors and trauma can cause defects to the auricle. LÄS MER
8. Microfluidic Compartmentalization for Smart Materials, Medical Diagnostics and Cell Therapy
Sammanfattning : The organisation of fluids in small compartments is ubiquitous in nature, such as in the cellular composition of all life. This work explores several engineering avenues where microscale fluid compartmentalization can bring novel material properties or novel functionality in life sciences or medicine. LÄS MER
9. The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) - Preclinical Studies, Technical Design and a Clinical Evaluation
Sammanfattning : The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) system has been developed as an alternative to the percutaneous bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA) with the advantage that the skin is kept intact. The transducer is permanently implanted and attached to the skull via a flat surface contact to the temporal bone. LÄS MER
10. A Segmented Silicon Strip Detector for Photon-Counting Spectral Computed Tomography
Sammanfattning : Spectral computed tomography with energy-resolving detectors has a potential to improve the detectability of images and correspondingly reduce the radiation dose to patients by extracting and properly using the energy information in the broad x-ray spectrum. A silicon photon-counting detector has been developed for spectral CT and it has successfully solved the problem of high photon flux in clinical CT applications by adopting the segmented detector structure and operating the detector in edge-on geometry.
