  1. 6. Condensation and frost formation in fibrous thermal-insulation materials

    Författare :Tomáš Vrána; Folke Björk; Ove Söderström; Kjartan Gudmundsson; Carsten Rode; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fibrous thermal insulation; Stone wool; Cellulose; MAterial properties; Moisture transport; Condensation; Frost formation; Exterior conditions; Interior conditions; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Heavily insulated constructions are at present being used to strike at the vast energy consumption in residential buildings and commercial alike. They introduce a high-thickness layer of thermal insulation in the building envelopes. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores women’s access to property in Kenya. It consists of three parts. The first gives the Kenyan background, the theoretical and methodological approach. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Boreal land surface water and heat balance : Modelling soil-snow-vegetation-atmosphere behaviour

    Författare :David Gustafsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soil; snow; land surface heat exchange; forest; arable land; eddy-correlation; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : The water and heat exchange in thesoil-snow-vegetation-atmosphere system was studied in order toimprove the quantitative knowledge of land surface processes.In this study, numerical simulation models and availabledatasets representing arable land, sub-alpine snowpack, andboreal forest were evaluated at both diurnal and seasonaltimescales. 4. 9. Influence of Water on Coarse Granular Road Material Properties

    Författare :Jonas Ekblad; Ulf Isacsson; Hervé Di Benedetto; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Highway Engineering; Granulat materials; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Even though the practical experience of using coarse unbound granular materials is extensive, detailed knowledge on the mechanical and hydraulic behavior is to a large extent lacking. Regarding influence of water on mechanical properties, this is even more pronounced. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Designing the Edge : An Inquiry into the Psychospatial Nature of Meaning in the Architecture of the Urban Waterfront

    Författare :Konstantinos Ioannidis; Katja Grillner; Lars-Henrik Ståhl; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban design and theory; spatial psychology; spatial meaning; compositional strategies; formulative logic; waterfront design and spatial organization; psychospatial reading; transformational relations; design of the edge; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : The initial goal of this effort is to develop a discussion on urban design process and thinking that acknowledges the needs of places with meaning in the design of the urban waterfront. The thesis addresses the fact that the problematic of the coastal formulation is intricate, comprising not only aspects related to the spatial organization and design of its domain but also shared properties originated by the presence and movement of the perceiving subject in the area.
