16. Investigation of genetic factors involved in colorectal cancer predisposition
Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in the western world. Several hereditary CRC predisposing syndromes have been described and their genetic component has been elucidated. Taken together, these syndromes account for at most 5% of all CRC cases. LÄS MER
17. Inflammatory mechansims in pulmonary sarcoidosis
Sammanfattning : Pulmonary sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disorder of unknown aetiology, characterised by an accumulation of CD4+ T-cells in the alveolar compartment and by granuloma formation and varying degrees of interstitial fibrosis. The initial clinical presentation may either be acute with fever, malaise, arthritis and/or erythema nodosum or insidious with cough, dyspnea, tiredness, and loss of weight. LÄS MER
18. Natural specific T cell immunity in patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) : (A clinical and immunological study)
Sammanfattning : Analysis of TCRBV (T-cell receptor B variable) gene usage of the T cell repertoire in patients with B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) and age-matched healthy control donors showed that major perturbations were more frequently seen in the CD4+ T cell subset than in CD8 population. Analysis of the CDR3 length polymorphism revealed a significantly higher degree of clonality within the CD4+ and CD8+ T cell repertoire of patients as compared to the normal control population. 19. Structural Basis of Immune Receptor Binding by Staphylococcal Superantigens
Sammanfattning : Superantigens (SAgs) are toxins capable of inducing a massive immune response, leading to severe disease. They are secreted by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, which produce the staphylococcal enterotoxins and streptococcal pyogenic exotoxins, respectively. LÄS MER
20. The influence of adhesion molecules on binding and protein organization in cell contacts
Sammanfattning : Interactions between immune cells such as T cells and antigen-presenting cells (APCs) are integral for mounting an adaptive immune response. The interaction between the T cell receptor (TCR) and the antigen-presenting major histocompatibility complex (pMHC) on a contacting T cell and APC, is widely accepted to be the key interaction.
