  1. 11. Minimal Residual Disease Assessment in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

    Författare :Ingrid Thörn; Christer Sundström; Richard Rosenquist; Gisela Barbany; Johan Botling; Kjeld Schmiegelow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia; minimal residual disease; IG TCR gene rearrangements; BCR-ABL1 fusion gene transcripts; real-time quantitative PCR; multicolor flow cytometry; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, response to treatment in hematological malignancies is evaluated by light microscopy of bone marrow (BM) smears, but due to more effective therapies more sensitive methods are needed. Today, detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) using immunological and molecular techniques can be 100 times more sensitive than morphology. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Regulation of the pro-apoptotic protein Bim by T cell receptor triggering in human T cells

    Författare :Elena Sandalova; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Bim; Apoptosis; Mitochondria; CTLs; AICD; TCR activation;

    Sammanfattning : Bim is a significant pro-apoptotic member of Bcl-2 family of proteins; it is proved to be an important regulator of apoptosis: over the years it has been shown to play a pivotal role for the development and maintenance of homeostasis in many cellular systems and tissues. The Bcl-2 family of proteins is a group of key regulators of the mitochondrial, or intrinsic, pathway of apoptosis. LÄS MER

  3. 13. T cells in Autoimmunity: studies on murine type II collagen-induced arthritis

    Författare :Alexandre Corthay; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; Autoimmunity T lymphocytes collagen-induced arthritis Glycosylation TCR; transplantation; serology; Immunology; serologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis, in which autoimmunity is induced by immunization with type II collagen (CII), a cartilage-specific protein. In the present work, alpha/beta T cells were shown to be required for CIA and for the production of anti-CII IgG antibodies, whereas gamma/delta T cells were neither necessary nor sufficient for development of CIA. 4. 14. Regulation of non-responsiveness and death in cytotoxic T cells by the agonistic potency of MHC : peptide ligands

    Författare :Michael Uhlin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :CD8 T cells; APL; CTLs; non-responsiveness; AICD; lck; lipid rafts; partial agonism; TCR activation.;

    Sammanfattning : CD8+ T lymphocytes are important for immunological control of infections and tumors. The key interaction required to initiate the process of T cell activation is the engagement of the T cell receptor (TCR) with a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I/peptide complex on an antigen presenting cell (APC). 5. 15. T lymphocytes in Wegener’s granulomatosis

    Författare :Ricardo Antonio Giscombe Stephen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Wegener s granulomatosis; T lymphocytes; TCR; T cell expansions; HLA-DRB1*0401; CTLA-4; IL-10;

    Sammanfattning : Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) is a systemic necrotizing vasculitis that affects small and medium size blood vessels. The respiratory tract and lungs are usually compromised with necrotizing granulomatous formations. The aetiology is unknown and untreated the prognosis of generalised WG is very poor. LÄS MER
