  1. 1. Into the Membrane and Beyond : Improving Membrane Protein Over-Expression in Escherichia coli

    Författare :Mirjam Klepsch; Jan-Willem de Gier; Reinhard Grisshammer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; membrane protein over-expression; proteomics; T7 RNA polymerase; peptide transport; strain engineering; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biophysical chemistry; Biofysikalisk kemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins fulfil a wide variety of essential functions in the cell and many are (potential) drug targets. Since their natural abundance is usually very low, most membrane proteins have to be over-expressed for functional and structural studies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Protein interactions involved in viral replication characterized by T7 phage display

    Författare :Hamid Houshmand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; protein-protein interaktion; fagdisplayteknik; HCV; polyomavirus; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein interactions are essential for many cellular processes. By utilizing protein-protein interactions, viruses can infect their host cells and replicate. Phage display can be used for identification and characterization of protein-protein interactions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. From protein production to genome evolution in Escherichia coli

    Författare :Susan Schlegel; Jan-Willem de Gier; Peter Neubauer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; BL21 DE3 ; protein production; membrane proteins; secretory proteins; genome evolution; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of my Ph.D. studies was to improve production yields of membrane- and secretory proteins in the widely used E. coli protein production strain BL21(DE3). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression in retroviruses and human papillomaviruses

    Författare :Wei Tan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :CTE; EIAV; HIV- 1; HPV; Rev; RRE; splice site; SRV- 1; 3 UTR Stockholm 1996 Doctoral Thesis;

    Sammanfattning : Human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-1) is the prototype of complex retroviruses, whereas human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are nonenveloped, cricular double-stranded DNA viruses. The HIV-1 Rev protein is a posttranscriptional regulator, which acts on its target RNA sequence termed the Rev-responsive element (RRE) to facilitate nuclear export of unspliced and partially spliced HIV-1 mRNAs, and to improve their stability and translatability. 5. 5. Functional and structural characterization of the human mitochondrial helicase

    Författare :Jenny Korhonen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mitochondria; mtDNA; replication; replisome; TWINKLE; mtSSB; POL g ; adPEO.;

    Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are the energy producing organelles of the eukaryotic cell. The human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a double stranded circular molecule of about 16 kb, usually present at 1000-10 000 copies per cell. The genome encodes 13 polypeptides involved in respiration, two ribosomal RNA s and a set of 22 transfer RNA s. LÄS MER
