1. Quantitative and Qualitative Assessment of the Myocardium at Risk
Sammanfattning : One of the major determinants of the final infarct size during an acute coronary occlusion is the size of the myocardium subjected to ischemia. Identification and quantification of this so-called myocardium at risk in the acute phase of ischemia has been difficult in patients with conventional methods, such as myocardial perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) or electrocardiography. 2. The Utility of Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Contrast Agents for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the utility of the Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Particle (USPIO), NC100150 Injection for assessment of macro- and microvascular morphology and function using magnetic resonance imaging. The feasibility of NC100150 Injection was tested for the following applications: Coronary angiography, Thrombus detection, Cardiac function, Myocardial perfusion, Assessment of myocardial blood volume and water exchange and finally assessment of endothelial integrity of the myocardium. 3. Diffusion MRI: Aspects of Reproducibility and Novel Segmented 2D and 3D Approaches for Higher Resolution and Geometric Fidelity
Sammanfattning : Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a very useful tool for non-invasive imaging and clinical investigation of the human body. It provides data of the water diffusion process. LÄS MER
4. Error reduction strategies for quantitative PET with focus on hybrid PET/MRI
Sammanfattning : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an important tool for detection, staging and follow-up in a wide range of diseases, including cancer and neurological disorders. As a functional imaging tool, PET can visualize biological processes, where positron emitting radioactive isotopes are connected to molecules with different functions in the body. LÄS MER
5. Mangafodipir trisodium (MnDPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the liver and pancreas
Sammanfattning : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver and pancreas is frequently performed to improve the sensitivity and specificity of lesion detection in these organs. The concept of using tissue-specific contrast media is to selectively enhance the normal parenchyma, but not lesions, so that the contrast between tumorous and normal tissue is increased, and lesion detectability improved.
