  1. 1. Regulation of the germinal center response by T follicular helper cells and type I interferons

    Författare :Madelene Dahlgren; Adaptivt immunförsvar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Germinal Center; T follicular helper cell; type I interferon; dendritic cell; adjuvant; differentiation; IgG;

    Sammanfattning : The protective effect of most currently available vaccines is dependent on high-affinity antibodies and long lived B cell memory, which develop within organized structures of secondary lymphoid organs called germinal centers (GCs). GC formation is supported by T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, a subset of CD4+ T cells that develop in parallel to other effector T cells and specifically localizes to B cell follicles. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of gut IgA induction by helper T cells

    Författare :Inta Gribonika; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mucosal immunology; secretory IgA; T regulatory cells; T follicular helper cells; Th17 cells; Peyer s patches; IgA class-switch recombination; germinal centers;

    Sammanfattning : The gut is the largest lymphoid organ in the body. Due to intense and constant exposure to the outside world, it also functions as the most important portal of entry for many pathogens. LÄS MER

  3. 3. THE ROLE OF DENDRITIC CELLS AND TYPE I INTERFERON IN THE GENERATION AND FUNCTION OF T FOLLICULAR HELPER CELLS

    Författare :Helena Cucak; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; T follicular helper cells; Type I interferon; Dendritic cells;

    Sammanfattning : Generation of long-lived plasma cells and memory B cells of high affinity takes place in germinal centers and depends on help from a specialized CD4+ T cell subset termed T follicular helper (Tfh) cells. These processes are crucial for long-term protection upon natural infection or in settings of vaccination, however they are also responsible for development of antibody-mediated autoimmune disease. 4. 4. T-cell specificity and regulation in atherosclerosis

    Författare :Anton Gisterå; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death in the world. The underlying cause in most cases is atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease. Subendothelial retention of lipoproteins triggers monocyte-derived macrophages and T-helper (Th) 1 cells to form lipid-laden atherosclerotic plaques in the artery wall. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Single cell studies of human T cell function with applications for HIV-1

    Författare :Johanna Tauriainen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : T cells are one of the body’s main defenses against viruses and cancers and are therefore considered to play a major role in immunotherapies after stem cell transplantation and in HIV-1 vaccine and cure strategies. However, malignancies and chronic viral infections, such as HIV-1, eventually cause the T cells to become dysfunctional, resulting in a loss of control. LÄS MER
