  1. 1. Effects of Complement Opsonization of HIV on Dendritic Cells : and Implications for the Immune Response

    Författare :Rada Ellegård; Marie Larsson; Jorma Hinkula; Johan D Söderholm; William Paxton; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HIV; dendritic cells; complement; innate immune response; TLR signaling; T cell activation; NK cells; inflammation; antiviral response; immune evasion;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells are key players during HIV pathogenesis, and shape both the immediate immune response at the site of infection as well as directing the adaptive immune response against the virus. HIV has developed a plethora of immune evasion mechanisms that hijack dendritic cell functions, suppressing their ability to mount an accurate immune response and exploiting them for efficient viral transfer to target T cells. 2. 2. Deposition and Resolution of AA Amyloid

    Författare :Sofia N. Nyström; Gunilla T Westermark; Christoph Röcken; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AA-amyloid; autophagy; resolution; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Amyloidosis is a group of protein misfolding diseases characterized by extracellulardeposition of fibrillar protein aggregates. Today more than 25 different human amyloidogenicproteins have been identified, causing a variety of pathological conditions that includeAlzheimer’s disease, type 2 diabetes and prion diseases. 3. 3. Vγ9Vδ2 T cells - response to P. falciparum-derived phosphoantigens and potential for use in colon cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Chenxiao Liu; Ingela Parmryd; Susanna Cardell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Vγ9Vδ2 T cell is the dominant circulating γδ T cell subset in humans, can expand massively upon malaria infection and are cytotoxic to cancer cells. Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are stimulated by phosphoantigens, primarily isoprenoid pyrophosphates like isopentenyl pyrophosphate and (E)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl pyrophosphate (HMBPP). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Human intestinal T lymphocytes : a comparative analysis of phenotype and function in normal and inflamed mucosa

    Författare :Silvia Melgar; Nadine Cerf-Bensussan; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The epithelial lining of the gut must allow immediate contact with beneficial components as nutrients and normal microflora. At the same time it runs the constant risk of attack from pathogenic microbes and noxious agents. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Innate immune cell response in sepsis

    Författare :Yongzhi Wang; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammation; abdominal sepsis; neutrophil; monocyte; platelet; coagulation; lung;

    Sammanfattning : Leukocyte recruitment is known to be a key feature at sites of inflammation and important in the combat against infectious agents. However, the mechanisms of leukocyte recruitment in the pulmonary microvasculature in response to local and systemic inflammation remain elusive. LÄS MER
