  1. 1. Response of human skeletal muscle to chronic and acute exercise and ischemia : muscle dimensions, tissue water and blood flow as measured by magnetic resonance imaging and comparative methods

    Författare :Anders T Nygren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Bloodflow; cross-sectional area; exercise; fiber area; Gd-DTPA; glycogen; human; hypotrophy; intermittent claudication; ischemia; magnetic resonance imaging; metabolism; perfusion; reflex sympathetic activity skeletal muscle; training; transverse relaxation; ultrasonography.;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate the response of human skeletal muscle to exercise, training and ischemi and to evaluate if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could be used to measure regional muscle cross-sectional area, muscle perfusion and detect muscle ischemia in patients with intermittent claudication. For this purpose studies were performed on 29 healthy young volunteers and 7 patients with intermittent claudication. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mantle cell lymphoma : studies of predictive markers, the role of the microenvironment in disease development and identification of new potential targets for therapy

    Författare :Lina Nygren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive B cell lymphoma and accounts for 5-10 % of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). In Sweden, the incidence of NHL is 21.6 and 15.3 per 100 000 persons for men and women, respectively, which result in almost 100-200 new MCL cases per year. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Rational and combinatorial genetic engineering approaches for improved recombinant protein production and purification

    Författare :Nina Bandmann; Per-Åke Nygren; Helena Berglund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aqueous two-phase system; combinatorial library; expression vector; flow cytometry; fusion tag; partitioning; peptide library; phage display; recombinant proteins; ribosomal binding site; translation initiation; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) is in many situations an ideal host for production of recombinant proteins, since it generally provides a rapid and economical means to achieve sufficiently high product quantities. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring mental health and potential health assets in young people

    Författare :Katrin Häggström Westberg; Petra Svedberg; Jens M. Nygren; Maria Nyholm; Catrine Kostenius; Högskolan i Halmstad; []

    Sammanfattning : Young people in Sweden generally claim to have a good quality of life, but also report increasing mental health problems. It is a concern that only a minority of young people seek and/or access support when encountering mental health problems as mental health is a fundamental human right and integral to a positive development in both childhood and throughout the lifespan. Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to represent and critically analyse the theology of the Swedish theologian and professor in Lund, Gustaf Wingren (1910-2000), with special reference to his confrontational views on the role of theology at the university, in society and in church.
