26. Lutetium-177-octreotate treatment of small intestine neuroendocrine tumors - Radiation biology as basis for optimization
Sammanfattning : Patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) often have metastatic spread at the time of diagnosis. NETs frequently express somatostatin receptors (SSTR) that can be targeted by radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (e.g. 177Lu-octreotate). LÄS MER
27. Plant biology through quantitative proteomics
Sammanfattning : Over the last decade the field of mass spectrometry based proteomics has advanced from qualitative, analyses leading to publications revolving around lists of identified proteins and peptides, to addressing more biologically relevant issues requiring measurement of the abundance of identified proteins and hence quantitive mass spectrometry. The work described in this thesis addresses problems with quantitive proteomics in plant sciences, particularly complications caused by the complexity of plant proteomes (generated by genomic duplications), which makes mass spectrometry-based based proteomic analyses more difficult than in mammalian species. 28. The origin of symmetry in the metabolism of cancer – From systems biology to translational medicine
Sammanfattning : Why do not we have a cure for cancer yet? Cancer is the malady of the century, the most intensely studied disease of all time. The question is puzzling. It assumes that cancer is a single entity that we can target and eradicate. LÄS MER
29. Characterization of New Players in Planar Polarity Establishment in Arabidopsis
Sammanfattning : Coordinated polarity and differentiation of cells in the plane of a tissue layer are essential to the development of multicellular organisms. Arabidopsis thaliana root hairs and trichomes provide model systems to study the pathways that control planar polarity and cell fate specification in plants. LÄS MER
30. Quantum dot biomarkers for tracking endothelial progenitor cells and activated endothelium
Sammanfattning : The development of new visualization techniques is essential in the field of bioimaging to gain deeper knowledge about various medical and biological events at the cellular and molecular levels. Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor nanocrystals which are opening new perspectives in biotechnology due to their powerful optical properties and high stability. LÄS MER
