1. The Multiple Faces of Interfaces : Electron microscopy analysis of CuInSe2 thin-film solar cells
Sammanfattning : The CIS solar cell family features both a high stability and world-class performances. They can be deposited on a wide variety of substrates and absorb the entire solar spectrum only using a thickness of a few micrometers. LÄS MER
2. Visualising Functional Nanostructures of Organic Semiconductors using Electron Microscopy
Sammanfattning : Organic semiconducting materials have enabled the solution-processable fabrication of light-weight and flexible electronic devices. In particular, doping using molecular dopants has enabled the fabrication of high-performance organic electronics. LÄS MER
3. Correlating Nanostructure and Electronic Properties of Organic Semiconductors by Electron Microscopy
Sammanfattning : Organic semiconductors enable fabrication and efficient processing of electronic devices with light weight, mechanical flexibility and tuneable properties. Despite significant progress in the last decades, efficiencies and long-term stabilities of these systems still need to be improved. LÄS MER
4. Development of Nonlinear Microscopy for Studies of Metabolism and Tissue Engineering
Sammanfattning : Nonlinear microscopy techniques provide abilities for noninvasive and selective imaging of structural and chemical properties of biological systems. These techniques include coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy with the ability to selectively image molecular vibrations, second harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy which selectively images fiber structures, and third harmonic generation (THG) microscopy which is sensitive to interfaces between materials with different optical properties. 5. Association and Microstructure in Self-Assembling Catanionic Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the phase behavior and phase structure in mixed surfactant-surfactant and surfactant-polymer systems, where the co-solutes have opposite charges (catanionic systems). The initial goal has been to investigate self-assembly aspects in mixtures of single-/double-chained surfactants and bile salt/double-chained surfactants, with the main focus on vesicle assembly in dilute regions.
