  1. 6. Genetic studies on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus : A fine mapping and candidate gene approach

    Författare :Veronica Magnusson; Jerry Lanchbury; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; Systemic Lupus Erythematosus; complex disease; linkage analysis; candidate gene; association studies; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Linkage in the 2q37 region was evaluated using microsatellite markers in multi-case families from Sweden, Iceland and Norway. Both the two-point and the multipoint linkage analysis show highly significant LOD scores (Z=4.51 and 6.03, respectively). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis : analyses of candidate genes involved in immune functions, for susceptibility and severity

    Författare :Martin Johansson; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Ingrid Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SLE; RA; oestrogen; renal disorder; ESR1; PDCD1; PTPN22; association; severity; Rheumatology; Reumatologi; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune rheumatic disease with systemic manifestations characterized by auto-antibodies directed against different parts of the cell nucleus including DNA, histones and ribosomes. The systemic inflammation can cause damage to multiple organs, e.g., kidneys, skin, heart, lungs and the nervous system. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Genetic Analyses of Multiple Sclerosis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus : From Single Markers to Genome-Wide Data

    Författare :Johanna K Sandling; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Lovisa Lovmar; Joseph Terwilliger; Javier Martín Ibáñez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systemic lupus erythematosus; Multiple Sclerosis; Association study; Type I interferon system; Single nucleotide polymorphism; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : In autoimmune diseases an individual’s immune system becomes targeted at the body’s own healthy cells. The aim of this thesis was to identify genetic risk factors for the two autoimmune diseases multiple sclerosis (MS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). LÄS MER

  4. 9. Cardiovascular Disease and Immune Mechanisms in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Författare :Dag Leonard; Lars Rönnblom; Gunnel Nordmark; Maija-Leena Eloranta; Søren Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune, inflammatory disease characterized by autoantibody production and an activated type I interferon system. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is as a major cause of morbidity and mortality. The aim of this thesis was to identify genetic risk factors for CVD in SLE. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Mechanisms of Interferon-α Induction in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Författare :Ullvi Båve; Lars Rönnblom; Gunnar V. Alm; Ingrid Lundberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Systemic lupus erythematosus; interferon inducer; apoptosis; autoantibodies; natural interferon-alpha producing cell; FcgammaRII; Sjögren´s syndrome; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have an activated type I interferon (IFN) system with an ongoing IFN-α synthesis. This may be caused by circulating immune complexes, consisting of anti-DNA antibodies (Abs) and DNA, with IFN-α inducing capacity. LÄS MER
