  1. 16. The Dawn of a New Age : Interrelationships of Acoela and Nemertodermatida and the Early Evolution of Bilateria

    Författare :Andreas Wallberg; Ulf Jondelius; Mikael Thollesson; Graham Budd; Gonzalo Giribet; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Acoela; Nemertodermatida; Bilateria; Metazoa; evolution; phylogenetic inferrence; ancestral reconstruction; taxon sampling; microRNA; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : Deciphering the rapid emergence of bilaterian animals around the time of the Cambrian Explosion and reconstructing the interrelationships of animal groups have long been two of the most elusive problems in Zoology. This thesis concerns the phylogenetic interrelationships within and among Acoela and Nemertodermatida, two groups of small worms that are believed to be basal bilaterians and which may provide important clues for understanding the early evolution of animals. 2. 17. Patterns and Processes of Evolution in Sundaland

    Författare :Robert-Jan den Tex; Jennifer A. Leonard; Lawrence R. Heaney; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity in the tropics is disproportionately high compared to other habitats, and also under disproportionate threat from human impact. It is necessary to understand how this diversity evolved and how it is partitioned across space in order to preserve it. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Through the magnifying glass - The big small world of marine meiofauna : Morphology, species and evolution in Nemertodermatida

    Författare :Inga Meyer-Wachsmuth; Ulf Jondelius; Mark E Sidall; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Nemertodermatida is a group of microscopic marine worm-like animals that live as part of the marine meiofauna in sandy or muddy sediments; one species lives commensally in a holothurian. These benthic worms were thought to disperse passively with ocean currents, resulting in little speciation and thus wide or even cosmopolitan distributions. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Botanical Repellents and Pesticides Traditionally Used Against Haematophagous Invertebrates in Lao PDR

    Författare :Chanda Vongsombath; Thomas Jaenson; Raimondas Mozuraitis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ethnobotany; fly larvae; Lao PDR; medical entomology; mosquito repellents; myiasis; plant-based insecticides; terrestrial leeches; Haemadipsidae; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik; Biology with specialization in Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : Haematophagous parasites and disease vectors such as leeches, ticks, mites, lice, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and myiasis-causing fly larvae are common health problems in Lao Peoples Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). A main aim of my field work in Lao PDR in 2006-2010 was to document traditional knowledge among different ethnic groups about plants that people use to repel or to kill blood-feeding invertebrates. 5. 20. Evolutionary relationships within the Lysimachia complex : with special emphasis on Anagallis

    Författare :Ulrika Manns; Arne A. Anderberg; Katarina Andreasen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on Anagallis, an herbaceous genus with a distribution mainly in (sub-) tropical Africa, Madagascar or South America. A few species are found in drier climate. Anagallis is considered close to Lysimachia, separated based on mode of capsule dehiscence. LÄS MER
