  1. 1. Evolution and biodiversity of the Ixoroideae (Rubiaceae)

    Författare :Kent Kainulainen; Birgitta Bremer; Sylvain Razafimandimbison; Torsten Eriksson; Sandra Knapp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alberteae; character evolution; classification; Condamineeae; fruit evolution; Ixoroideae; phylogenetics; pollen presentation; Rubiaceae; systematics; taxonomy; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : The phylogenetic relationships within subfamily Ixoroideae of the coffee family are investigated by phylogenetic reconstruction of molecular data, including regions of the chloroplast DNA (matK, ndhF, rbcL, rps16, trnH-psbA, trnS-G, and trnT-F), and the nuclear ribosomal DNA (ITS). The evolution of morphological characters within the group are inferred, with focus on characters used in classification. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Systematics and polyploid evolution in Potentilleae (Rosaceae)

    Författare :Magnus Lundberg; Torsten Eriksson; Jürg Schönenberger; Bengt Oxelman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Potentilleae; Fragariinae; Potentilla; Sibbaldia; Fragaria; Alchemilla; systematics; phylogeny; polyploidy; autopolyploidy; allopolyploidy; reticulate evolution; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises studies of the phylogenetic relationships in the flowering plant clade Potentilleae in Rosaceae. The relationships were elucidated by using DNA sequence data from the nuclear genome as well as from the plastid genome. In particular, the focus of the studies was the investigation of allopolyploidy, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Systematics of Eucoilini : Exploring the diversity of a poorly known group of Cynipoid parasitic wasps

    Författare :Mattias Forshage; Fredrik Ronquist; Göran Nordlander; John Heraty; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eucoila; Trybliographa; Eucoilini; Eucoilinae; Figitidae; Cynipoidea; Hymenoptera; phylogenetics; diagnostics; classification; taxonomy; systematic revision; morphology; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Entomology; entomologi; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : Many animal species are still undiscovered, even in Sweden. This thesis deals with the wasps of the subfamily Eucoilinae (of Figitidae, Cynipoidea), a poorly known group of small parasitoids of Dipteran flies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Diversity Underfoot : Systematics and Biogeography of the Dictyostelid Social Amoebae

    Författare :Allison L Perrigo; Sandra Baldauf; Maria Romeralo; David Bass; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amoeba; biogeography; cryptic species; dictyostelid; latitudinal gradient; multicellularity; protist; social amoeba; phylogenetics; systematics; new species; Biology with specialization in Systematics; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik;

    Sammanfattning : Dictyostelids (Amoebozoa) are a group of social amoebae consisting of approximately 150 species, which are found in terrestrial habitats worldwide. They are divided into eight major clades based on molecular phylogeny, and within these clades are many species complexes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Species Limits, and Evolutionary History of Glassfrogs

    Författare :Santiago Castroviejo-Fisher; Carles Vilà; Jennifer A. Leonard; Miguel Vences; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amphibia; Anura; Biogeography; Centrolenidae; Diversification; Frogs; Molecular Phylogenetics; Neotropics; Pristimantis; Speciation; Species; Systematics; Taxonomy; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : Recognizing the mechanisms of speciation and the limits of species is essential to understand the origin of biodiversity and how to conserve it. The general aims of my investigations during my doctoral studies were two-fold: to study evolutionary patterns and processes, and to provide specific and superspecific taxonomic classifications that try to reflect evolutionary history.
