    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of the following papers: In Paper I, I investigate the causal relationship between seat majorities for mainstream parties and refugee reception policy in Swedish municipalities. To answer this, I create and estimate an occupation specialization index (OSI) using Swedish register data and machine learning tools.
